New Karate Class - Beginners Only (adults)

Starting on Wednesday 11th January 2017, this will be a new class aimed specifically at adults who are complete beginners to the fascinating art of Okinawan karate.

This opportunity will be available to a limited number of people only, due to the traditional way of teaching karate in a small group environment and will consist of a maximum of 8 students only.

Beginners and novices only, so you will be confident that everyone is starting from the same point and all will be struck with a sudden lack of coordination, nerves and trepidation but these classes will be guaranteed to change you if given the chance to flourish!

Our teachers are DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) checked, and each have over 22 years experience in learning & teaching the art of karate.

Okinawa 2016 Trip

On Saturday 22nd October, seven members of the Dojo travelled to Okinawa, Japan. The weather was a scourching 29 degrees when we arrived. We rushed to the main street in Naha to witness the World Record Breaking attempt of the most people performing a kata at the same time. There were over 3000 adults and children lined up in the street and the performance was spectacular. We were also asked to perform in a karate demonstration, which was part of the 6th Worldwide Uchinanchu Festival, which was a great honour.

We had lots of fantastic training with our Okinawan teacher Arakaki Sensei, and met with many karate friends from around the globe. Please take a minute to look at some of our pictures.

Father's Day Class

On Friday 17th June, we had a special Father's Day children's class, where all the children invited their Dads or Grandads to join them at training. The Dads (and one Mum) threw themselves 100% into the training and joining in with the games and exercises. The children became teachers and taught their parent the start of fukyugata- ichi kata. A fantastic fun class, well done Dads!

Relay for Life Event

This year the Dojo members have formed a team and entered the Relay for Life Event which is being held at the Sports Park, next to the College. It is a 24 hour relay, where at least one member of the team must be walking around the track. We sadly lost a member to cancer this year, after a very brave and proud battle. If you would like to donate to our team please copy and paste the link below all monies goes to Cancer research. There will also be lots going on over the 24 hours, live music, demonstrations and stalls, which are run by each team, so why not pop along and support us from the side lines. Thank You.
